This October, AQT conducted a small “fireside” chat for trade and industry media via Zoom. Writers joined AQT director Irfan Siddiqi, David I. Santiago (technical lead), Kasra Nowrouzi (head of hardware), and Ravi Naik (measurement lead) for a lively discussion about quantum computing.

During the chat, Siddiqi identified that open access to quantum computing hardware platforms remains a critical enabling factor in the field’s continued development and evolution. In addition, open-source hardware designs lower the high costs and barrier-to-entry for early-career researchers and inspire younger generations to engage in experimental research.

The writers asked their questions about the state of quantum information science and the road ahead. They also enjoyed a guided navigation of the 3D AQT tour powered by Matterport software.
